Mid-Week Outreach: Contact Us About Your Startup

I realize openly asking for eager entrepreneurs to write us about their business is a recipe for inbox organizational disaster. But honestly, GeniusCog is a new news organization.

So, I’m inquiring to the folks out there who haven’t had the attention they may deserve.

However, there are a few points that may make us more likely (or unlikely) to cover your company…

Location
If you’re company is on the eastern half of the country, we’re more likely to cover newsworthy information as it unfolds. Conversely, if you’re on the west coast there are plenty of stellar tech blogs ready, willing and able to spread the word about you. That means California, Oregon and Washington (state) are going to be a pretty hard sell for our site to cover.

Funding
Companies with funding or who are actively seeking funding and already pitching to investors. If the idea is sound and the company is up and running, we’re definitely interested.

Investment
This site does seek to encourage education about how and why you need investment. So if you want to launch a YouTube competitor and don’t have a several million dollars in the bank, it’s going to be difficult for us to justify. If your company doesn’t need money to start (so you say), what’s to prevent a competitor with more resources from surpassing your efforts?

Method
If you blast me with press releases once or twice a week with 2 of 4 total paragraphs that are identical every single time, please send me a short personal message instead. You’d be amazed by how much farther those go when reaching out to people about coverage.

Don’t Suck
And finally, if you just have a really kick ass company that does not suck, then make sure we know about it!

If you get news about Nashville-based startups, I'd love to hear about them in a follow-up. Maybe one of them will hire me!
